Grafting is a technique used by many fruit growers to combine one part of a fruit tree with another to grow a new plant. The goal of grafting fruit trees is typically to create plants that are identical to the parent plant by combining part of the parent plant with rootstock.  A successful graft means that the two parts of the union begin growing together as a new plant. This success is dependent on the proper care of the graft until this new growth occurs.
